Part 1

Transgenders

The transgender issue, to be brief, is indeed simple. It matters as to their core identity. Are they fundamentally a man at heart, in terms of the described concept? Then that is foremost in value. Same for woman at heart. But, biology is still important at minimum for a number of practical reasons. Similar in ways to why it matters in concepts like marriage. It matters in this case because the biological operation is often irreversible in certain areas. If you are wrong, or change your mind, you may not be able to go back.

That's a problem. Now it is true that if you are what people describe "a man trapped in a woman's body," that is problematic and you should be able to switch. You just need to be sure. These surgeries can also be dangerous from what I hear. But be sure.

Now, under my same framework, however, there is more to it than that. Whether a transition should be accepted should be discussed on a case-by-case basis, but under the same principles of freedom it should not be illegal nor subject to state approval. I'm not an expert on this. I defer to those who are.

There are other concerns. I will honestly say a few things. I think there is a risk of transgender ideology unchecked harming children. It perhaps has gone a bit too far. There are transgender people, but young people and children especially in my opinion could be at risk for being influenced by that ideology who might be at a young age and confused as to who they truly are, but instead of independently answering that question for themselves, they are unjustifiably influenced by the idea that being transgender is natural and that it could be them. People should be encouraged to understand that they could be transgender, but also understand that statistically across empirical sources I'm familiar with it is exceedingly rare, very uncommon.

Young people facing questions over who they are in life should understand that it's very likely they are a man if they are a biological man, and vice versa, by the order of exceptional magnitude. If young people and children don't get this, some might look toward a concept which could do them harm, and doing people harm like that is not helpful to anyone. The balance between understanding that some people, including the youth could be transgender needs to be balanced by the far likelier fact that they aren't, and that the questions children need to answer about themselves that can sometimes be difficult should usually and almost always, in reality, be answered not with a sex change operation. I think transgender ideology has been pushing a bit too far in advocating for sex change operations and how universal transgenderism is.

They need to calm down just a bit. It's not helpful to people who are transgender to be pushed down that route if they are; they should decide that on their own without what can become if not careful outright propaganda. And two: non-transgender people–it's not helpful to them to be encouraged to become transgender when they are simply not. This is bad for everybody, because again I think the movement is exceeding its scope in cause and effect. I've stated why and I think the solution is making it clear to those who advocate for those rights that they are correct to fight for those rights, but they need to also respect the rights and intentions of those, especially the children and youth, who are not transgender and need to figure questions young people ask without undue influence.

That's basically my stance. I think it's a relatively defensible one.
